  • Collection summary Photographs primarily from annual meetings of the Illinois Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, 1996-1998, 2000. Includes images of members lecturing, eating, swimming, and socializing at events. Also included are photographs of musicians and vendors, and group portraits of members. Many of the photographs are captioned on the back with the date, location, and names of the people shown. The slides are from a presentation to the Illinois Home Economics Association in 1984: "Different but Alike; The Universality of Women."
  • Biographical or Historical Note IAFCS was founded as the Illinois Home Economics Association in 1921, the state affiliate to the American Home Economics Association. In 1994, both groups changed their names, and the national organization became the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
