    • Correspondence, ledgers, minute book, advertisements, and other papers of George Cook, an Iowa businessman who came to Chicago in 1878 to engage in handling investment securities and became an organizer of the American Steel Wire Company and the American Bridge Company. His company, George D. Cook Company, bankers, was particularly known for handling Mexican bonds. The collection includes correspondence, 1852-1875; incoming mail, 1906, 1909-1910; letterbooks, 1899-1918; ledgers, 1898-1918; a minute book, 1899-1903; a telegram book, 1900-1902; insurance policies; estate materials; and advertisements and other documents pertaining to Cafetal Carlota Company, Maurice Holding Company, Tuxpam & Ozuluama Company, Jalisco (Mexico) Securities, Japan agreement, and other business interests.
