The collection contains two account books with invoices (2 volumes., 241 p., 1869-1871) and also includes an 1856 lease by Matthew Laflin to Samuel C. Davis and Matthew Moody for a store at no. 19 in block no. 7 of the Ft. Dearborn Addition on South Water Street in Chicago and a statement of the fire relief given Sawyer's employees from funds donated by Boston after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
