- Collection summary Photographs relating to the Wengler family and to the Wengler & Mandell Cigar Manufacturing Company of Chicago (Ill.). Includes several mounted photographs showing activities at the Wengler & Mandell factory ca. 1910, including rows of workers rolling and packaging cigars and piles of tobacco leaves. Views also show exterior of factory building and a completed box of cigars. The collection also includes photographs of amateur, or semi-professional, baseball teams for which Ted Wengler played, and many studio portraits and snapshots of Wengler family members such as Ted's wife Bess and his father Bill.
- Biographical or Historical Note Wengler & Mandell Cigar Manufacturing Co. began ca. 1880 on West Madison Street in Chicago; expanded to Tampa (Fla.) in the 1930s. Its best-known brands were Tom Palmer and Tropics.
