    • Images, mostly made Sept. 1992- March 1993 (but some date as early as 1971), by these photographers: Lucille J. Adams, Phyllis Cerney, Barbara Dixon, Bob Essak, Eugania Fawcett, Gil Garcia, Betty C. Kappella, Curtis Larsen, Ruth Lutherinton, Dorothy L. Meyers, Paul L. Meyers, Mary Milner, Marjorie Prombo, Ronald Perry, Dorothy R. Posevec, Norris Romeo, Janet E. Schleeter, and Carolyn Sparling. Photographs were taken in Chicago and in the following suburbs and Illinois towns: Aurora, Bartlet, Batavia, Berwyn, Brookfield, Chicago Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Country Club Hills, Countryside, Crystal Lake, Deerfield, Des Plaines, Downers Grove, Elgin, Elmhurst, Evanston, Flossmoir, Forest Park, Fox River Grove, Geneva, Glencoe, Glen Ellyn, Great Lakes, Hanover Park, Harvard, Hazelcrest, Highland Park, Homewood, Itasca, Joliet, Kenilworth, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Lemont, Libertyville, Lisle, Lockport, Lombard, Long Grove, Melrose Park, Mettawa, Midlothian, Mokena, Monee, Mount Prospect, Mundelein, Naperville, New Lenox, Northbrook, North Chicago, Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, Oak Park, Orland Park, Paletine, Richton Park, River Forest, Roselle, Tinley Park, Vernon Hills, Villa Park, Willmette, Winnetka, Winthrop Harbor, Wooddale, Woodstock, Worth, and Zion.
    • Includes views of Chicago neighborhoods and landmarks, including prominent buildings, such as Mercantile Exchange, Old Stock Exchange entrance gate, Kimball mansion, UIC campus, Adler Planetarium, Water Tower, Lincoln Park Zoo, numerous churches, homes of prominent Chicagoans, and statues and monuments dedicated to historic figures. The following events and activities are also represented in the collection: Rover Ramble, Shrine Circus and Parade, flood of freight tunnels in the Chicago Loop, Marathon, South Side St. Patrick's Day Parade, dedication of Bat Column sculpture by Claes Oldenburg, Betty Ford dedication, and Hyde Park-Kenwood Fair. The collection also includes many photographs related to the subject of homelessness in Chicago.

  • Acquisition information These slides and many accompanying photoprints were the gift of the Chicago Area Camera Clubs Association (CACCA) and gift of the individual photographers as part of the Chicagoland-in-Pictures project, an annual competition sponsored by Chicago Historical Society and CACCA since 1948. These images were accepted into the collection during the 1992-1993 competition (1993.0328).
