  • Collection summary Primarily glass plate negatives by amateur photographer Becker, a carpenter and handyman by trade, who documented life in his South Chicago neighborhood during the 1910s and 1920s. Many photographs depict people posed in work and leisure situations. Includes scenes of people picnicking in the park, boating, playing tennis, partying, riding in automobiles and on motorcycles, and watching parades. Residential and commercial architecture is well represented. A small group of images show daily activities on an unidentified farm. There are a few views of Gary, Indiana.
