  • Biographical or Historical Note The Catholic Instruction League was founded at Holy Family Parish in Chicago in 1912 by Rev. John M. Lyons, S.J. The League's main objective was to instruct Catholic children in Christian Doctrine, particularly those children that the parochial schools could not reach. The League also started study clubs for gaining more knowledge about the Catholic religion and assisted in building a system of Catholic vacation schools where children's missions could be given. The Catholic Instruction League was dissolved in 1936.
