    • Images, mostly made Sept. 1998- March 1999 (but some date as early as 1966), by these photographers: Lucille J. Adams, Phylis Cerney, Sara Chertkow, Eugenia Fawcett, Jeanne Halama, Alan Havlicek, Jane H. Kriete, Russell Kriete, Betty Kubis, Curtis Larsen, Lynne Lee, John McCarthy, Paul L. Meyers, Mary Milner, Beverly Rodgers, and Carolyn Sparling. Includes views of events, structures, streets and people in Chicago neighborhoods: principally in the Loop, Maxwell Street, Lincoln Park, and Hyde Park, as well as in towns and suburbs outside of Chicago including: Arlington, Aurora, Batavia, Big Rock, Brookfield, Countryside, Crestwood, Downers Grove, East Chicago (Ind.), Elwood, Forest Park, Glen Ellen, Grayslake, Joliet, La Grange, Lisle, Lockport, Lyons, Monee, Morris, Naperville, Oakbrook, Oak Lawn, Orland Park, Palos Park, Peotone, River Forest, St. Charles, South Holland, Union, West Chicago, Wheaton, Willowbrook, Willow Springs, and Wilmette.
    • The collection includes photographs of prominent buildings and landmarks, including Marshall Field<U+2019>s department store, Daley Center, Chicago Cultural Center, Old Stock Exchange entrance gate, new Museum Campus, United Center, new Comiskey Park, Water Tower, Navy Pier, Garfield Park Conservatory, Gallery 37, Millennium Park, Robie House, Miegs Field, McCormick Place, State of Illinois Center, Pullman District, and Art Institute of Chicago. Also present are photographs of Chicago statues of Abraham Lincoln and events, such as Cardinal Bernardin's funeral, Daley Plaza farmers' market, Daley Plaza Halloween celebrations, Lincoln Park Zoo at Christmas, Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade, Grant Park balloon meet, Chinese New Year Parade, Air and Water Show, Celebrate on State, Taste of Chicago <U+2019>98, repairs to Chicago Theater sign, implosion of some Chicago Housing Authority's buildings at 41st and Michigan, and many fires, including the Pullman District fire and fire at the Chicago Housing Authority's Flannery Homes (1531 West Clybourn).

  • Acquisition information These slides and many accompanying photoprints were the gift of the Chicago Area Camera Clubs Association (CACCA) and gift of the individual photographers as part of the Chicagoland-in-Pictures project, an annual competition sponsored by Chicago Historical Society and CACCA since 1948. These images were accepted into the collection during the 1998-1999 competition (1999.0149).
