  • Collection summary Photographs by commercial photographer Gibson and his wife May Clark Gibson, who came to Chicago in 1893 to photograph the World's Columbian Exposition and founded a photography business (run by May Clark after 1902), which eventually became part of the Montgomery Ward photography studio. Collection includes photographs of Gibson's family in Canada, him at the University of Michigan, and cabinet cards produced by the Gibson photography studio in Ann Arbor; the Clark family in Yipsilanti; the Gibson's son: J.G. Gibson in Chicago; his wife Florence Powers Gibson; and the Powers family. May and Florence Gibson were active in the Columbian Exposition 93ers, a club of people associated with the Columbian Exposition.
